Lucknow: A 24-foot-tall idol of Lord Hanuman, weighing approximately 600 kg and crafted using more than 50,000 stones inscribed with ‘Ram-Ram’, was unveiled at Fun Republic Mall in Lucknow on Tuesday. The idol was inaugurated by MLA Dr Neeraj Bora and is expected to become a new spiritual attraction in the city.
According to the mall management, the installation is claimed to be Asia’s largest Hanuman idol situated within an institutional or commercial premises. The management also stated that the creation has received recognition from the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.
A distinctive feature of the idol is the inscription of the sacred name ‘Ram-Ram’ on thousands of stones, reflecting Lord Hanuman’s devotion to Lord Ram. The installation combines religious symbolism with traditional stone craftsmanship.
The idol was completed in approximately 30 days, with specially selected stones brought from different states. The cutting, shaping and intricate carving process took around 10 days, while 20 to 25 skilled artisans worked collectively to complete the structure. Traditional carving techniques were complemented by modern technical support.
The mall management described the installation as an initiative to bring India’s cultural heritage and Sanatan traditions closer to visitors. It said the objective was to offer people an opportunity to connect with spiritual and cultural values alongside shopping and entertainment.
With its imposing height and distinctive design, the idol is expected to draw devotees, tourists and local residents. Its scale and the use of thousands of inscribed stones make it a notable addition to Lucknow’s religious and cultural attractions.
The management said the installation symbolises faith, strength, devotion and dedication, while highlighting the enduring significance of Lord Hanuman in Indian spiritual traditions.
